Becoming a “Technology” Company
AGCO last had a Tech Day last year, and while not a lot has changed, I noticed a change in tone in some areas, along with a reframe of how they are thinking about the market, and themselves.
None of those changes was more pronounced than their effort to transition to a “technology” company. From CEO Eric Hansotia:
“We're transitioning rapidly into becoming a technology company. And so what does that mean? It means several things, and you're going to see all of these come to life.

Companies want this perception because it provides a halo around them in their customers minds, and arguably more importantly, can shift how investors value them.
It’s easy to say, harder to do.
