Overview

Corteva held its investor day in New York on September 15th.

Corteva had an unsurprisingly more defensive positioning than Vylor, with Corteva focused on positioning itself as a scaled pure play crop protection company, arguing that with their differentiated portfolio and robust discovery capabilities and partnerships, will be able to deliver returns even at modest forecasted growth for the market of just 1-3% annually.

What is being spun out is a roughly $7.8 billion revenue crop protection business on a standalone basis, with approximately $1.3 billion of operating EBITDA, about 9,000 employees and operations in 110 countries. The revenue mix is actually relatively balanced: 36% North America, 31% Latin America, 21% EMEA, 12% APAC, with roughly 60% of sales in crops other than corn and soybeans and no single molecule accounting for more than about 10% of the total. By type, herbicides are 50%, insecticides 22%, fungicides 15%, biologicals 7% and seed applied technology 5%.
