Precision, Platform, Performance: Inside Meristem’s BIO-CAPSULE

One of the most compelling companies I have had the opportunity to learn about and dig into over the last 6 years is Meristem Crop Performance.

Meristem recently had a event presenting new products to their distribution network and there are a few areas that stand out.

The first is BIO-CAPSULE Technology Planter Box Delivery System which has immense potential.

There is always talk about technology adoption in agriculture.

Assuming a return on the product, I believe the adoption rate of a new technology among farmers is inversely related to its complexity.

That’s where BIO-CAPSULE stands out— simplicity.

The BIO-CAPSULE Planter Box Delivery System, is a patented packaging system designed to carry, protect, and dispense a multitude of crop protection products, including biologicals and synthetics, into a seed lubricant blend plus micronutrients.

The BIO-CAPSULE system does not add steps to the farmers application process. Meristem has integrated crop protection products that can be applied with the same process farmers take to put talc graphite into their planter— while managing the constraint of limited seed real estate for crop protection products.

That’s what makes the most recent BIO-CAPSULE evolution compelling, too: HOPPER THROTTLE™ MaxStax™ Soybean which launched this year on hundreds of thousands of acres, along with the related Corn product. The HOPPER THROTTLE™ MaxStax™ system has 16 crop input components(!) delivered directly to the furrow, from nutrients, to inoculants, to synthetic crop protection and biocontrol components:
